10 Skillshare classes for bloggers

Do you use Skillshare? If you haven’t heard about it before, Skillshare is an online learning community where you can find thousands of classes on design, blogging, business, technology, and more. There are so many classes that I love, but in this post, I want to share with you 10 Skillshare classes for bloggers. They will help you start a blog, plan your content, monetize it, and bring readers to your site.

My favorite thing about Skillshare is that most of these classes are short. If you have a free hour in the afternoon or if you are looking for something to do during your lunch break, you can go to Skillshare and watch a video. All these classes are full of great tips, without all the extra fluff.

Disclaimer: This post contains affiliate links. That means I get a small commission if you decide to make a purchase using my affiliate link. However, I love Skillshare, I love these classes, and I wouldn’t recommend them if I didn’t find them helpful.

In case you are wondering, Skillshare is affordable. You can take hundreds of classes for as little as $8.25/month. And if you sign up using my referral link, you will get the first two months for FREE (and cancel anytime you want).

Here are my favorite Skillshare classes for bloggers:

How to start a blog

Blogging, Lifestyle Blogging, Content Marketing | 47 min

In this course, Laurie Wang will teach you everything you need to know about creating a new blog. You will learn more about blogging, choosing a niche and a target audience. You will also learn how to pick a blogging platform, domain name and hosting, and how to set up a WordPress blog.

This class is perfect for complete beginners, but you will learn many new things even if you are already blogging.

WordPress for beginners

WordPress, Web Design, Blogging | 42 min

You probably know that WordPress is my favorite blogging platform. If you want to start a blog on WordPress or move your existing blog, this Skillshare course will help you.

Sinead Geraghty will teach you how to install and configure WordPress, how to choose a theme, how to create a blog post and install a few plugins.

Personal and Lifestyle Branding

Graphic Design, Branding | 32 min

Kate Arends will show you how to build a brand. This class is not about building a logo or website, but it will show you how to develop a personal brand that will help you tell your story and bring readers to your blog.

The course also comes with a few worksheets that will help you identify your brand’s aspirations and write a brand statement.

Become a better blogger: content planning

Blogging, Content Marketing | 57 min

Once your blog is set up, you can start blogging. Andrea Goulet Ford will help you create content on a regular basis. She will help you define your blogging strategy and create an editorial calendar.

If you feel that you are not consistent and need help with content creation, this course is for you.

How to make money blogging

Blogging, Marketing, Small Business | 45 min

Have you ever thought about monetizing your blog? There are so many ways to do that, and while it’s not hard, it’s also not as easy as some people make it out to be.

Laurie Wang has another course in which she talks about turning a blog into a business. She covers everything from ads, affiliate marketing, and sponsored posts to selling digital products. She also has helpful tips about building an audience and creating a media kit.

Introduction to SEO

SEO, Content Marketing, Business | 1 h 30 min

Rand Fishkin, the co-founder of MOZ, a leader in the field of search engine optimization, teaches a course on Skillshare that will help your blog rank high in search engines. This class is full of actionable tips that will help you grow your blog in an organic manner.

The SEO tips that you learn in this course can be applied to any blog or website, and you don’t have to be a tech genius to use these strategies.

Fundamentals of Google Analytics

Blogging, SEO, Marketing | 1 h 1 min

Google Analytics is a free web analytics tool that gives you insights into your blog’s traffic. This is a great tool that can help you grow and improve your blog, but it can be overwhelming when you first use it.

After taking Jeff Sauer’s course you will be able to understand your website’s data and navigate the Google Analytics dashboard.

Introduction to social media strategy

Social Media, Marketing | 43 min

One of the many things I love about Skillshare is that you can learn from experts that work at some of the largest companies in their field.

This social media strategy course is taught by Brian Peters, a Digital Marketing Strategist at Buffer. You will learn how to choose the best platforms for your blog, how to create content, how to schedule your content and improve your posts. Another thing I love about this class is that Brian also talks about Facebook advertising.

Getting started with email marketing

Email Marketing, Blogging | 1 h 11 min

If you want to start an email list, Allyson Van Houten from MailChimp will teach you everything you need to know about writing, designing, and sending great email campaigns. She also talks about the types of emails you should send and the content you should include in your emails.

DSLR photography for bloggers

Photography, Graphic Design | 58 min

Images can make or break a blog. If you want to bring your blog to the next level, you should focus on your visuals.

In this class, Lindsay Ostrom from Brit + Co will teach you everything you need to know if you want to improve your blog’s photos. She talks about cameras, supplies, lighting, and composition. Even though she uses a DSLR camera, you can also take this class if you have an iPhone or a compact camera.

There are so many other wonderful classes, but these are my favorite Skillshare classes for bloggers.
